Avustralya Güvenlik İstihbarat Teşkilatı (ASIO) Güvenlik Genel Sekreteri Mike Burgess, İsrail-Filistin çatışmaları nedeniyle Avustralya’da düzenlenen protestoların spontane şiddet olaylarına dönüşebileceği konusunda uyarıda bulundu. Burgess, ABD’nin California eyaletinde düzenlenen “Beş Gözler” zirvesinde açıklamalarda bulundu.

Burgess, “ASIO’nun endişesi, protestolar veya karşı protestolar değil, şiddeti savunan ideolojilere sahip bireyler” dedi. Burgess, İsrail-Filistin çatışmalarının Avustralya’nın terör seviyesini değiştirebileceğini ve bu olasılığın sürekli takip edildiğini belirtti.

Ayrıca, Kanada hükümetinin ayrılıkçı Sih örgütü KLF’nin yöneticisi Hardeep Singh Nijjar’ın öldürülmesi iddialarına da değinen Burgess, “Herhangi bir ülkenin, o ülkedeki bir vatandaşını öldürmekle suçlanması ciddi bir iddiadır” ifadelerini kullandı.

ASIO Security General Secretary Mike Burgess warns that Israel-Palestine protests in Australia could turn into spontaneous acts of violence.

Mike Burgess, the Security General Secretary of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO), warned that protests in Australia related to the Israel-Palestine conflict could turn into spontaneous acts of violence. Burgess made the remarks on the sidelines of the “Five Eyes” summit held in California, USA.

Burgess stated, “ASIO’s concern is not the protests or counter-protests, but individuals with ideologies that advocate violence.” He also noted that the progression of the Israel-Palestine conflict could change Australia’s terror level, and this possibility is continuously monitored.

Additionally, Burgess commented on the Canadian government’s claims about the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the leader of the separatist Sikh organization KLF, saying, “Any country being accused of killing a citizen within its borders is undoubtedly a serious allegation.”

The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs issued a travel warning against going to Lebanon due to variable security risks.
