Teen Arrested After Stabbing at University of Sydney
A 14-year-old boy is in police custody following a stabbing incident at the University of Sydney.
A 22-year-old man was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a serious but stable condition after being stabbed at the University of Sydney. The incident occurred just after 9 am on Western Avenue, within the city campus.
Emergency Response
Multiple emergency vehicles and officers were dispatched to the scene following the stabbing. A NSW Ambulance spokesperson confirmed that they received a call about the incident at approximately 8:30 am.
Police Operation
A police operation is currently underway at the university. The 14-year-old suspect was arrested near the hospital and is assisting with inquiries. According to the police, there is no known connection between the victim and the suspect, and there is no further risk to the community.
University Statement
"A NSW Police operation is underway on our Camperdown campus," a university spokesperson said. "As a precautionary measure, there may be an increased security and police presence on campus while investigations continue. The safety and wellbeing of our students, staff, and members of the community is our priority, and we continue to work with authorities."
